Robert N. Tredway Award

The Robert Tredway Award is a biennial award, presented by CHPA to an individual who has demonstrated significant accomplishments impacting the military helicopter community, veterans, CHPA or the community at large.

Award Criteria

The Tredway Award is presented by CHPA to an individual or corporation for demonstrated
accomplishments in support of one or more of the following:
• The United States military helicopter community.
• U.S. military veterans with an emphasis on helicopter veterans.
• The CHPA Association, and the community at large.

About COL(R) Robert N. Treadway

The award is presented in honor of COL(R) Robert N. Tredway (USA), a founding member of CHPA and a 1958 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Colonel Tredway's Army career saw service in both field artillery and armor branches as well as aviation assignments. He was dual-rated in both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. As a senior Army aviator he spent two combat tours in Vietnam, both with air cavalry troops and also served as the G-3 Plans Officer of the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) during the U.S. invasion into Cambodia. His awards and decorations include the Silver Star, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, two Purple Heart Medals and 39 Air Medals.
